
The Naugatuck Valley Health District reported six new COVID-19 cases in the lower Naugatuck Valley Monday (Aug. 31).
The new cases brings the total local positive tests to 1,777 since the virus was detected in Connecticut in March.
According to the NVHD, 209 people have died COVID-associated deaths locally since March. An additional 35 deaths have been classified as “COVID probable.”
The health district reports that 186 of the 209 deaths locally have happened in nursing homes, assisted living facilities or similar places.
No new deaths were reported Monday. There hasn’t been a death reported within the Naugatuck Valley Health District’s territory since July 31.
The new positive COVID cases reported Aug. 31 included two new cases in Naugatuck, and four in Shelton.
Oxford data is not collected because the town is within a separate health district.
