Legion Pool Suspects Charged

Seymour police arrested two teenagers Thursday who were allegedly vandalizing property at Legion Pool, a park owned by the Seymour Land Trust.

The arrest follows a recent rash of vandalism at the park, but Lt. Paul Satkowski said it’s not clear if the teenagers arrested were responsible for any previous vandalism.

A neighbor called police just after 2 p.m. Thursday, after allegedly witnessing the teens damaging property.

The two teens ran away through a wooded area and police found them shortly after at a nearby convenience store.

The witness later identified the suspects, Satkowski said in a press release.

Seymour police charged the 15-year-old male with third-degree criminal mischief and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The 14-year-old male was charged with conspiracy to commit third-degree mischief and possession of drug paraphernalia marijuana. Police said he was the lookout while the 15-year-old sprayed graffiti throughout the park.

Police said the teen had written items of a vulgar nature.”

The names of the two teens were not released because of their ages.

They were released to their parents and are scheduled to appear in Waterbury Juvenile Court on April 28.
