ANSONIA — Alderman Joe Jeanette states in his letter of March 7, “it is entirely disingenuous for Mr. Feddern to suggest he is concerned about the taxes this property generates.” This is factually untrue, as the majority of the opposition has been centered on better uses of the property and the numerous violations of our City Charter in getting this project pushed through.
Throughout this entire process, this administration has put their own wants and needs ahead of those of their residents to push through a “pet project.”
I should remind Mr. Jeanette that he was opposed to the plans to build a sports complex on Olson Drive just a mere 17 months ago, when, as a member of the Democratic municipal slate, he signed a Letter to the Editor entitled, “Letter: Olson Drive Plans Lack Clarity, Here’s A Better Idea.” The letter stated our party’s vision to create a transformative space out of Olson Drive, with a privately-owned retail center with shops and restaurants on one side of High Street, and a new town green on the other.
Now that he’s a Republican, he’s fully on board with the administration’s plans for Olson Drive. So, tell me again, who’s being disingenuous?
Be careful when standing on a soapbox, Joe. They can be awfully slippery.
