DERBY — I have watched the campaign unfold, expecting the candidates to talk about their hopes and dreams for our city and how they plan to bring them to a reality. From the beginning Mayor Dziekan has run a positive campaign telling us his hopes and dreams for our city and how he planned to accomplish them.
I waited for Mr. DiMartino to do the same. Then I waited some more, and then more and still nothing communicated by his campaign at all. It wasn’t until just last week, with the election season almost over that he finally communicated with us voters when he published an attack newspaper which still had not one single positive proposal regarding his hopes and dreams for our city along with what he would do to bring them about. I did find it comical that one of his negative criticisms was on the cleanliness of our city, which as an employee of the city’s public works is a negative reflection on he and his co-workers. He then sent out a second attack paper even worse than the first, without yet again a single positive proposal regarding his hopes and dreams for our city and how he would bring them about.
I couldn’t be more disappointed in Mr. DiMartino. I guess the proof is in the pudding as they say, he’s hopeless when it comes to Derby’s future and obviously lacks the leadership required to be our Mayor. As a result he has no hope of getting my vote. I am voting for Mayor Dziekan and encourage the rest of the voters in Derby to do the same. He has hope for Derby and will bring it to reality.
