Life Goes On At Derby Parking Authority

A month after an alleged altercation between two officials, it was business as usual at the Derby Parking Authority meeting Wednesday.

Last month Parking Authority Director Leo Moscato, Jr. accused Parking Authority chairman and city police officer John Dorosh of hitting him in the head after a meeting. Moscato filed a complaint with Derby police.

Dorosh denies the accusation, which he said is ridiculous and an embarrassment to all parties, including the city.

Neither man was at Wednesday’s meeting, held in an office at the Derby parking garage on Thompson Place.

Prior to the meeting, Moscato said he did not drop his complaint.

There is a witness who provided a statement, and I am not sure why nothing has happened yet,” Moscato said.

Derby police did not return calls for comment Wednesday.

No one inside City Hall has called for either Dorosh or Moscato to resign from their positions. No one called for Moscato’s resignation earlier this year when he pleaded guilty to breach of peace after getting arrested for trying to solicit a prostitute over Craigslist.

The simple fact is parking authority business goes on, said Phil Robertson, assistant to Mayor Anthony Staffieri, earlier in the day, before the meeting.

Both gentlemen have agreed to let that situation takes it course and business goes on,” Robertson said.

Members of the Parking Authority aren’t dealing with the controversy, either.

It is not our purview anyway,” said Tony Szewczyk, a member of the parking authority.
