ANSONIA — The Valley Indy streamed Tuesday night’s Ansonia Board of Aldermen meeting. The video on Facebook had about 400 views by Wednesday morning.
Highlights from the meeting included:
* Mayor David Cassetti said the Ansonia Senior Center is scheduled to open in May. The facility, which is being constructed within 65 Main St., the same building that houses the police department, was originally scheduled to open in March.
* The city hopes to have a splash pad open in Nolan Field by Memorial Day.
* A Coleman Bros. carnival is scheduled to set up tents in Ansonia from July 27 to July 9.
* The city is a applying for a grant to fund a “feasibility study,” for the Ansonia Opera House. The city is in a partnership with the Main Street building’s owner to renovate the structure.
* There are still no tenants for the former Big Y space across from Target on Main Street. City officials said the property owner, or representatives of the property owner, will be coming to city hall seeking to make changes to the property.
