Living Legend 'Amazing Kreskin' To Appear At Ansonia Paracon

The Amazing Kreskin

ANSONIA – If things that go bump in the night, possessed dolls and other supernatural stuff raises the hair on the back of your neck, then mark your calendar this summer for the ParaConn sequel.

ParaConn II, dubbed Connecticut’s first and original” paranormal convention, is scheduled to make its return to the Ansonia Armory, 10 North State St. July 16 and 17.

According to the organizers, who call themselves The Shaman and The Showman,” Nick Grossman and Charles Rosenay, the two-day, all-ages event (16 and under accompanied by an adult) is not to be missed.

Last year’s event sold out, and tickets are moving even faster this year,” Grossman said via an email. Connecticut is one of the most haunted states, and so many people have had encounters and experiences. There’s never been a place or event where people could come together where they could go and share their interest in the unknown and the supernatural. Even people who don’t believe in ghosts’ attend will have a great time with all the speakers and vendors and attractions. As it turns out, the Valley is a magnet for paranormal, and it amazes us how many reports there are that come out of the area towns.”

The top guest for ParaConn II is The Amazing Kreskin,” a regular on the old Tonight Show” with Johnny Carson, and the original Late Night” with David Letterman. He’s one of the world’s most famous mentalists.

Here’s a clip from Kreskin and Carson doing their thing back in 1974:

The event’s guest of honor is John Zaffis, the nephew to the late, world renowned ghost hunters Ed and Lorraine Warren. Zaffis has followed in his family’s footsteps, and is known for his work on the television show, The Haunted Collector.” Grossman calls Zaffis one of the most respected and sought-after experts in the field.”

In addition to a host of other guests, the event will feature 80 vendors including psychics, tarot card and crystal readers, mediums, horror memorabilia, clothing, crafts, books, movie merchandise and more. There will be also lectures, food trucks and free parking for all. All guests will be available to meet with visitors and sign autographs.

The event will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. Admission is $14.99, with an optional, limited V.I.P. admission for $19.99, which allows early entry at 10 a.m. with first access to vendors, preferred parking and up-close seating for stage events.

Rosenay said last year’s inaugural convention was a bigger success than he ever imagined.

I underestimated the love and fascination with the field and was pleasantly surprised when we attracted about 1,500 attendees and 60 vendors over the two-day period,” Rosenay said. It exceeded all expectations, and everyone had a great time. The feedback was completely favorable and working with the mayor and his team in the City of Ansonia is a pleasure, so there was no doubt we would bring the event back to the Ansonia Armory for ParaConn 2, and make it even bigger and better.”
