DERBY — Over 20 members of Storm Ambulance Corps, along with personnel from the Bridgeport, Shelton, Seymour, Westport, Fairfield, Greenwich, Cromwell, and Somers fire departments, recently completed an intensive three-day course on the Arizona Vortex rescue device.

This course, led by expert instructors from the Connecticut Fire Academy, focused on equipping emergency responders with the skills to use the Arizona Vortex in challenging rope rescue scenarios.

The Arizona Vortex is a highly versatile rescue tool designed to aid rescuers in difficult environments, such as high-angle rescues, confined spaces, and complex terrains.

The device’s adaptability and precision make it essential for situations requiring advanced technical expertise.

We are proud to host such an impactful training opportunity, not only for our team but for other fire and rescue personnel across the region,” said Tom Lenart Sr, Chief of Storm Ambulance Corps. This course enhances our shared mission of protecting and rescuing those in need by ensuring our responders are well-trained and prepared for complex rescue operations.”

The completion of this course represents a commitment by these departments to advancing their technical rescue capabilities and strengthening interagency collaboration for large-scale or high-risk incidents.
