Lock Your Car Doors In Seymour

July and August saw a rash of thefts from unlocked cars and vandalism in Seymour.

Items that have been taken have been loose change, GPS units, satellite radios and anything else valuable left behind in an unlocked car, said Lt. Paul Satkowksi, spokesman for the department.

The areas where the thefts and vandalism have occurred are Colony Street, Omar Street, Patton Avenue, Wycliffe Terrace, lower South Main Street, Bellevue Terrace, Lane Street, Wooster Street, Elm Street and parts of Pearl Street.

The Seymour Police Department is asking anyone who sees suspicious cars or people in their neighborhoods to call the department at 203 – 881-7600.

Anyone with information for the case should call detectives at 203 – 881-7638.

The department is reminding residents to lock their cars, even if they are in a driveway. Residents must not leave any valuables inside their cars, Satkowski said.

Police have some possible local suspects in the thefts, he said.

The department has also increased patrols in these areas, on all shifts.
