Luther’s Garage School Supply Drive Underway

On Aug. 6, Luther’s Garage of Shelton officially kicked off the Third Annual Valley School Supply Drive by accepting a donation of 100 brand new book bags from Vinny Cordone, owner of Cordone Landscaping of Shelton.

I was just telling my wife I wanted to do something for my community locally,” Cordone said. Then I was introduced to the owners of Luther’s Garage and teamed up with them for this drive.”

Luther’s is accepting donations between now and the end of this month. Their goal is to fill the one-hundred book bags with school supplies.

Donations can be dropped off to Luther’s Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A second drop off location is Minuteman Press located at 524 Howe Ave. in Shelton.

Supplies should be purchased by grade and labeled for quick distribution. However, all new school items will be accepted.

In addition to the book bag donation, Harry Burlkoff, owner of Minuteman Press, donated supplies to help fill some of the bookbags.

Cara Mocarski, Shelton School Readiness Council Coordinator, also dropped off enough supplies from the council to fill thirty book bags.

The book bags and school supplies will be distributed to the abused and neglected children of the Shelton Safe Home and children assisted by the Covenant to Care for Children program.

In addition, 16 children in need, who are students in the Shelton School Readiness classroom, will receive book bags filled with supplies.
