A 19-year-old man has been charged in connection to Thursday morning’s stabbing on Hawkins Street.
Stephan Coney, of Atwater Avenue, is also a suspect in a second Hawkins Street stabbing that happened May 19.
Coney, who was taken into custody Friday at about 9 p.m., is charged with first-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment and second-degree threatening.
He is being held on a $75,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court July 20.
Police served a warrant on Coney outside his residence.
Coney allegedly attacked a 19-year-old man in the parking lot at the Over the Hill Tavern on Hawkins Street at about 12:55 a.m. Thursday. The victim lived, despite multiple stab wounds.
On May 19, a 19-year-old man was stabbed during a large gathering of people on Hawkins Street near Cottage Street. The victim managed to walk to Mr. D’s, a bodega on the corner of Seventh Street and Hawkins, to get help. He survived.
Lt. Justin Stanko of the Derby Police Department said charges in that case will be filed soon.
