Man Charged With Shooting Neighbor’s Cat

A 39-year-old Oxford man was arrested Sunday for allegedly shooting his neighbor’s cat.

Craig E. Middendorf is charged with cruelty to animals, unlawful discharge of a firearm, and reckless endangerment.

According to a statement from state police, Middendorf shot what he thought was a stray cat in his yard.

The cat belonged to his neighbor, police said.

The parties involved live in a duplex, police noted.

Middendorf is due to answer the accusations in Superior Court in Derby Feb. 5.
