A 32-year-old Shelton man found unconscious on Coram Avenue early Sunday is in critical condition after being assaulted, according to police.
Officers were dispatched to the area of Coram Avenue and Kneen Street about 12:15 a.m. Sunday on a report of a person lying in the road, according to a press release issued Monday.
They found Jason Chevrier, 32, who appeared to be the victim of an assault. Shelton EMS took Chevrier to Bridgeport Hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition, police said.
Detective Sgt. Kevin Ahern said Monday morning that police have not yet been able to interview Chevrier because of his injuries but that evidence from the scene indicated the man was hit with something.
“We believe he was struck in the head by some type of object,” Ahern said.
Ahern asked anyone who was in the area at the time or has information to call 203 – 924-1544 and ask for the detective division. All information will be kept confidential.
