A West Haven will be sentenced to more than five years in prison next month after pleading guilty to a pair of armed robberies in Ansonia.
The man, 30-year-old Everald Davis, has been behind bars since last March, when he surrendered to Ansonia police after his brother saw surveillance photos from the stick-ups online and drove him to the police station to turn himself in.
Davis pleaded guilty to three counts of first-degree robbery and one count of attempted first-degree robbery March 22 at Superior Court in Milford before Judge Frank Iannotti.
Two of the charges were connected to heists in West Haven — a March 24 attempted robbery of a grocery store and a March 28 stick-up of a convenience store, both of which are on Campbell Avenue.
In Ansonia, Campbell pleaded guilty to robbing the XPress Mart at 180 Wakelee Ave. March 24 and the Shell gas station at 8 Great Hill Road March 29.
After he turned himself in, he told detectives he committed the robberies to finance his heroin addiction, according to an arrest warrant.
A plea deal in the case calls for Davis to be sentenced to 10 years behind bars, with the prison term to be suspended after Davis serves five and a half years behind bars. Davis will be put on probation for five years after his release from prison, according to the plea deal.
Davis was scheduled to be sentenced Wednesday (June 7) at Superior Court in Milford, but the case was instead continued to next month.
The Valley Indy left a message for Davis’ lawyer Wednesday afternoon.
