Detectives and members of the federal Drug Enforcement Administrative Task Force arrested another Oxford resident in connection to an ongoing probe into marijuana sales and cultivation in the Valley.
Armed with a search warrant, authorities raided a house at 34 Wedge Hill Road in Oxford Wednesday. Inside, police said they found about two pounds of marijuana, $11,000 in cash, prescription meds and drug paraphernalia.
Equipment used to cultivate marijuana was also seized, according to information from Ansonia Police Lt. Andrew Cota.
Sterling Mazza, 24, who lives at the address, was charged with possession of more than four ounces of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell and possession of drug paraphernalia. She posted a $25,000 bond and is due in court Jan. 19.
Mazza’s arrest comes about a month after police charged her brother, Cheyne Mazza, 27, also of 34 Wedge Hill Road, with possession of more than 4 ounces of marijuana, possession with intent to sell, conspiracy to possess marijuana, and conspiracy to possess marijuana with intent to sell.
Last month police said they were watching a residence on McKinley Avenue in Derby when they spotted Cheyne Mazza in a car in the driveway.
Police said they spotted marijuana in the car, which they used to get a search warrant for the McKinley Avenue residence, where occupant Philip Negron, 27, was charged with possession of more than 4 ounces of marijuana, possession with intent to sell, conspiracy to possess marijuana, conspiracy to possess marijuana with intent to sell and possession of narcotics.
In that bust, cops said they seized about 10 pounds of marijuana and $18,000 in cash.
Cheyne Mazza is due back in Superior Court in Derby Jan. 12. Negron’s court date is Jan. 28.
