Masuk 49, Oxford 14

Oxford had a tough opening day on the gridiron Saturday (Sept. 17), losing 49 – 14 to a powerful Masuk team.

Paul Singley of Oxford Patch points out Masuk walked into the game the second-ranked team in Connecticut on MaxPreps.com. Check out Singley’s write up and photo gallery here.

Masuk’s quarterback Casey Cochran dominated the game, according to the prolific Mark Jaffee of the Republican-American. In addition, Oxford didn’t help their case Saturday by committing four turnovers, Jaffee reports.

The CT Post’s Mike Cardillo says the game was Masuk’s 14th win in a row.

“Masuk (1 – 0) piled up 453 yards of offense, at one point scoring 28 points in barely three minutes, thanks to its defense and special teams. Cochran, the reigning Gatorade Player of the Year, finished 15-for-18 for 327 yards with three touchdowns and one interception,” Cardillo reports.
