DERBY – The Derby Youth Service Bureau is partnering with the Derby Police Dept. and The Naugatuck Valley Health District to hold a medication take back Day on Saturday October 28th at Bradley School from 10:00 – 2:00.
This community service initiative is in unison with the National Medication take back day.
This initiative is in response to the public health crisis concerning the growing number of overdose deaths in our country which has doubled in recent years.
This effort is intended to take back unwanted, unused prescription drugs which can make their way into the community and in the hands of young people.
The inappropriate use of these drugs can lead to possible addiction and the desire to move toward the more dangerous illicit drug market. These illicit drugs which are often tainted with fentanyl and other synthetic chemicals are dangerous and have caused thousands of overdose deaths.
Medication take back day is one step in helping to prevent these overdose tragedies.
