
SEYMOUR — Seymour Public Schools is proud to present the Top Ten graduates of 2024:
Jillian Sullivan, is the valedictorian.
In addition to being President of the National Honor Society, she is a member of the Cross country and Swim team. She is the recipient of the Yale University Book Award and is an AP Scholar with distinction. She has received many scholarships, notably the Great Hill Hose Company Ladies Auxiliary, Seymour Fathers’ Club Valedictorian, Seymour Fathers’ Club #2, and the Chatfield LoPresti PTA/LoPresti scholarship. She has also volunteered and worked at an Autism Health and Fitness Center and as a lifeguard. Jillian is proud to be attending Yale University in the Fall.
Jay Patel is the salutatorian.
In addition to being the Treasurer of the National Honor Society, he is a member of many clubs: Electrathon Club, Chemistry Club, HOPE Club, Astronomy Club, and Chess Club. He is also an AP Scholar with distinction and recipient of the Harvard Book Award. He is also a member of the CT Boys State Program. He has also been awarded many scholarships such as: Bungay PTA, Dr. John Nolan Science Scholarship, Seymour Fathers’ Club Salutatorian, and the Science Department Award. He has also spent time volunteering at a local library. Jay is proud to be attending the University of Connecticut in the Fall.
Lindsey Machnicz received many scholarships, such as: Aniello and Attruia, Edward “Ted” Lewis Memorial, Seymour Lions Club, Seymour Pumpkin Festival, and the Thomas Morgatto Memorial. She is an AP Scholar, member of the National Society, and recipient of the Rensselaer Medal. Aside from being an Etsy Business owner, she is also part of many clubs: Art Club, Future Business Leaders of America(where she won 1st Place in Journalism), Pawprint, and is a Link Crew Leader. She has spent time being a SMS Volunteer/Mentor, and a Pumpkin festival and local library volunteer. Lindsey is proud to be attending the University of Connecticut in the Fall.
Emily Masotta is the Vice President of the National Honor Society and Student Council. She is also a States Vault Silver Medalist. She received many scholarships such as: Bungay PTA, F. Curtis & Susan B. Thrall, Grateful Vibes/Ray of Sunshine, Raymond Marshall, Seymour Fathers’ Club #4, Seymour Lions Club, and the Bess, Oscar, Babette Rogol Scholarship. Emily enjoys gymnastics, is a member of the Link Crew, and Kinder Cats. She has spent time volunteering at the Blessing Pantry. Emily is proud to be attending Quinnipiac in the Fall.
Neal Kapadia is a member of the National Honor Society and an AP Scholar. He has received many scholarships such as: Chatfield PTA/LoPresti, Clarence Hummel, Sara &Gary Morgatto unsung Hero, and the Seymour Lions Club. Neal is a member of the Chess Club and enjoys playing basketball. He has spent time volunteering for Seymour Pink. Neal is proud to be going to Quinnipiac University in the Fall.
Olivia DeToto is a member of the National Honor Society and has received the Mildred E. Neumann Memorial Scholarship. She is a vibrant and engaged member of the Seymour High School community. Olivia is a Link Crew leader, enjoys Chorale, the Performing Arts, and TaekwonDo. She has volunteered at the Seymour Pumpkin Festival. Olivia is proud to be attending University of New Haven in the Fall.
Jainna Marcinczyk is a proud member of the National Honor Society as well as being a Link Crew Leader. She is also the catcher and second baseman of the softball team at Seymour High School. In Jainna’s free time, she is a Sunday School Teacher at Immanuel Lutheran, and volunteers as an EMT and Hummel Little League. Jainna is also a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician. Jainna is a hard worker and puts in extra effort in everything she does. Jainna is proudly attending the University of St. Joseph this fall.
Kaylee Cabezas is the recipient of many prestigious scholarships including the Citizen’s Engine Company #2 Scholarship, James Rorick Scholarship, Traci L. Haines Memorial Scholarship, and the Eugene Coppola Scholarship. She is also a member of the National Honor Society. In addition, Kaylee is a member of Best Buddies and a Link Crew Leader. In her free time, Kaylee works at the Country Creamery, and volunteers at the Salvation Army. Kaylee’s most noticeable attribute is her maturity and character. She is the type of student that continually pushes herself to succeed. Kaylee is proud to be attending the University of Connecticut in the fall.
Madeline Hink is a member of the National Honor Society and an AP Scholar. Madeline received scholarships from the Seymour Lions Club as well as F. Curtis & Susan B. Thrall. Beyond the classroom, Maddie is a vibrant and engaged member of the Seymour High School community. Her dedication to community involvement extends beyond the school as she volunteers with the local chapter of Project Purple, a pancreatic cancer awareness charity. She is a member of the Kinder Cats and Art Club. Madeline is proudly attending Eastern Connecticut State University this fall.
Jillian Keough is the recipient of the Bel-Air Water Ski Club Scholarship, the Great Hill Hose Company Scholarship, the John DeBarber Award, and the Seymour Fathers’ Club CIAC Scholar Athlete Scholarship. Jillian’s commitment to her extracurricular activities is truly commendable. She is a three-sport varsity athlete, participating in soccer, basketball, and track & field. Balancing the demands of a challenging academic program with the rigors of varsity athletics is no small feat, yet she manages to do so with grace and determination. Her dedication to her sports demonstrates her resilience, time management skills, and ability to work effectively as part of a team. She also is a member of the club Best Buddies. In her free time, she is a camp counselor. Jillian will be proudly attending the University of South Carolina.
