No one was injured.
At about 5:45 p.m., police and volunteer firefighters responded to a report of smoke showing at the third-floor apartment at 112 Westfield Ave.
A police officer was able to put out the flames with a fire extinguisher, said First Assistant Chief Ron Burgess, of Fountain Hose Co.
