Update: Motorcyclist Dies In Shelton Crash

Update:Police on Wednesday morning identified the motorcyclist killed in Wednesday’s accident as Brian C. Laneuville, of Seymour.

Police said the driver of the sedan was Noreen Labranche, 54, of Seymour, who was not injured in the crash.

Though the accident is still being investigated, police said both Laneuville and Labranche were headed south on Route 110 at the time of Tuesday’s accident, and the two vehicles came into contact at the driveway to the Riverdale Diner.

No charges have been filed, and police asked anyone who saw the accident to call the department’s Traffic Division at 203 – 924-1544.

A 24-year-old motorcyclist was killed after a River Road accident Tuesday afternoon.

Police did not release the man’s name because his family had not yet been notified.

Several people dialed 911 about 4:20 p.m. Tuesday reporting a motor vehicle versus motorcycle crash” in the area of the Riverdale Diner at 521 River Road, according to a press release issued by Shelton police.

The motorcycle’s driver was taken to Bridgeport Hospital Trauma Center where he was later pronounced dead, the press release said.“The Shelton Police Accident Reconstruction Team is currently conducting an investigation and no other details are available,” the press release, which is posted at the bottom of this story, said.

PHOTO: Ethan FryAt the scene Tuesday evening the diner’s entrance on River Road was blocked off with police tape, and Route 110 was limited to one lane of traffic in both directions.

Several officers investigated the crash in the diner’s parking lot.

A motorcycle lay on its side in the lot, near the business’ front door.

A Nissan Altima with damage to its front end sat stationary on Route 110 just south of the diner’s entrance from the road.
