U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy endorsed State Rep. Theresa Conroy (D‑Seymour) for re-election in the 105th District (Beacon Falls, Derby and Seymour).
“I am proud to be supporting Theresa for another term as the State Representative for Beacon Falls, Derby and Seymour,” said Murphy.
“No one fights harder for their constituents and the issues that matter to them more than Theresa and, quite simply, we can’t afford to lose her voice and skill set in Hartford.”
Murphy specifically praised Conroy’s work combating Connecticut’s opioid epidemic.
“A lot of elected officials didn’t see this epidemic coming. But as a nurse and a dedicated community leader, Theresa did. For the last few years, Theresa has worked across the aisle to craft common sense legislation that increased access to life-saving overdose reversal drugs like Narcan, limited the excess pills in our society that have played a role in causing this crisis and increased prescriber education and drug treatment. Theresa’s professional experience and track record as a legislator makes her uniquely qualified to help lead us through this public health crisis,” said Murphy.
The Senator was also quick to praise Conroy for her work in championing Griffin Hospital.
Murphy said, “When Griffin Hospital was facing millions of dollars in cuts that could have threatened the quality of care for Valley residents, Theresa went to bat for the hospital, stood firm, and successfully restored 90 percent of the hospital’s funding. She is a fighter, which is one of the many reasons I’m proud to endorse her campaign for re-election.”
