SHELTON – The Huntington Green will once again come alive with the sounds of Jewish music, the smells of sizzling kosher food, and the energy of families and friends gathering to celebrate. The 4th Annual Shelton Jewish Festival is set to take place on Sunday, June 22, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM, bringing with it an experience that’s as soulful as it is joyful.
What started as a modest gathering a few years ago has quickly become a local favorite, and according to Rabbi Shneur Brook, director of Chabad of Shelton and the festival’s organizer, this year’s celebration promises to be the most exciting yet.
“We wanted to create a space where Jewish life and culture could be celebrated in a way that’s open, joyful, and accessible to everyone,” Rabbi Brook says. “This isn’t just for the Jewish community. It’s for the whole city.”
A Soundtrack for the Soul
This year’s musical performances promise a powerful blend of tradition, innovation, and soul. The afternoon will feature the David Chevan Klezmer Quartet, whose spirited fusion of traditional klezmer and jazz improvisation brings old-world melodies into dynamic new life. Led by bassist and educator Dr. David Chevan, the quartet blends clarinet, flute, accordion, and bass into a sound that’s both deeply rooted and refreshingly modern.
Also taking the stage is the Jon Madof Trio, a genre-bending ensemble blending instrumental jazz, rock, and Jewish music. Known for his collaborations with avant-garde legend John Zorn, Madof’s guitar-driven compositions have been hailed as “a truly soulful experience” by The New York Times. He’ll be joined by Yoshie Fruchter on bass and Nadav Snir-Zelniker on drums, creating an electrifying and deeply expressive musical experience. Together, these acts promise to turn the Green into a concert of joy, depth, and movement, inviting everyone to experience Jewish music in its many evolving forms.

From hot pitas with Shawarma and crispy falafel to fresh burgers and classic hot dogs, the festival’s kosher food court offers something for everyone. Festivalgoers can also cool down with refreshing treats from the ever-popular Kona Ice truck, serving flavored shaved ice all afternoon. A bustling vendor marketplace will line the green with artisan Judaica, handmade crafts, gifts, and locally made products, perfect for browsing between bites and beats.
