A Naugatuck man was hospitalized Monady (March 25) after crashing on Route 8 in Shelton, according to state police.
Matthew Matto, 30, was driving in the left lane of Route 8 south just north of Exit 12 about 10:15 a.m. when his car drifted from lane toward the highway’s median.
Matto then swerved toward the right lane and lost control of his vehicle, a 2005 Chevrolet Equinox, according to an accident information summary from state police.
The vehicle then traveled onto the median and hit a tree.
Matto, who was wearing his seatbelt, suffered “non-incapacitating” injuries in the crash and was taken by Echo Hose Ambulance Corp. to Bridgeport Hospital. Firefighters from Echo Hose Hook & Ladder Co. 1 also responded to the scene.
A hospital spokesman said Tuesday (March 26) that Matto was treated and released.
State police issued Matto a ticket for failure to drive in an established lane.
