The incident occurred at about 5:40 p.m. when officers spotted a black Dodge Charger that the officers learned had been stolen out of Ansonia, and had been used in connection with other crimes.

Naugatuck police said that the department has stepped up patrols throughout the community in an attempt to deal with an increase in crime in recent weeks, particularly car thefts, some of which have involved firearms.
