School budgets have been a hot topic of conversation in the Valley in recent weeks, so we decided to make that the focus of our latest podcast.
We start by talking about recent developments with Seymour’s schools budget request, which wil go to a fourth referendum next month — and which the Board of Finance decreased by $150,000 Wednesday night.
Seymour is the last Valley municipality to finalize its budget. We also discuss how the process went in other Valley communities, from Oxford, where both the town and school budgets passed at the first referendum, to Derby, where a controversy regarding the city’s finance director hampered the process.
Then we talk more generally about school budgets in general, and how it’s sometimes challenging to make sense of all the numbers and fine details.
