This week’s episode of Navel Gazing is a bittersweet one, as we say goodbye to award-winning reporter Jodie Mozdzer.
Jodie has been with the Valley Indy since its launch in 2009, and is one of the hardest working, most tenacious and ethical journalists with whom we’ve ever had the privilege of working.
Though we’re sad she’s leaving, we take heart in the fact that she will now be a journalism professor at Southern Connecticut State University, where she’ll be teaching others how to do something she has done so well herself.
And it’s not just us who think so: when we broke the news of her departure on our Facebook page, reader after reader chimed in with congratulatory messages and thanks for all that she’s done.
That said, we still jokingly give her a hard time about leaving, and how we’ve tried to pretend this day hasn’t been coming for weeks.
And then we look back at Jodie’s time here and how she’s shaped the Valley Indy from the very beginning.
We will miss her so very much, and know she’ll be an excellent professor.
Journalism students at Southern are very, very lucky.
