Rodia is from New Rochelle, N.Y., a city just north of the Bronx in southern Westchester County. He worked as a standup in his 20s, then got out of the biz before he turned 30 to settle down.”

But the need to perform, and two years ago, Rodia, now 39, gave up a good-paying job and returned to the stage. Instead of constant club work to gain a reputation, Rodia used social media videos featuring Uncle Vinny,” a hot tempered Italian-American character based on Rodia’s father.

Rodia’s mom and dad were born in Italy. His mother’s accent faded away over the years, but somehow his dad’s grew thicker. Pop doesn’t mind the off-color Uncle Vinny” is based on him.

Now he’s basically shaking me down for royalties,” Rodia said.
