Nearly 600 Gather For Giordano Fundraiser

Nearly 600 people gathered Friday (March 16) for a pasta dinner fundraiser at Oxford High School to benefit a scholarship fund honoring Brandon Giordano.

Giordano, 15, died in a car accident March 9 which is under investigation by state police.

High School Vice Principal Glenn Lungarini said about a dozen local businesses and restaurants made donations to Friday’s event.

He said contributions gathered Friday have put organizers of the scholarship fund well on their way to their fundraising target.

Our goal was $10,000,” Lungarini said Monday. We did raise a significant portion of that on Friday night and we’re very hopeful that we will hit that target.”

More than 300 people attended Giordano’s funeral Friday afternoon at the Cornerstone Assembly of God church, according to this report in the Oxford Patch.

OHS football players stood shoulder-to-shoulder outside the church before the funeral, the Oxford Patch reported, and inside a collage and video displayed hundreds of photos of Giordano.

Several friends and relatives of Giordano’s spoke, all testifying to the 15-year-old’s affection and sense of humor, according to the Patch report.
