Ansonia’s third ward has a new alderman.
Kevin Mott, 56, a Democrat, was appointed to fill a vacancy in the ward at the Board of Aldermen meeting on March 13.
Former third-ward alderman Patricia Macero, also a Democrat, resigned from the position in January “due to family commitments.”
Mott has previous experience on the board — he served for about five years during the early 1990s.
“He has previously served as an alderman and I think he’d be a good candidate,” fellow alderman Jerome Fainer said during the appointment.
Mott said he served two terms as a second-ward alderman and a term in the fifth ward.
The wards have changed since his tenure, so now Mott is serving in the third ward.
Mott also served a couple years on the Inland Wetlands Commission, he said.
He is a service manager at Mikron, a manufacturing company in Monroe.
“I raised my family here and put them all through school here,” Mott said after the meeting. “It’s a good town and I want to continue to see that it’s a good town.”
Mott said he wants to focus on bringing in new business and improving education in town.
“I’m here to help with whatever I can do,” Mott said.
