New Executive Director At Valley Boys & Girls Club

The Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce that it has selected Shaye Roscoe as the Club’s new Executive Director.

Shaye officially took over her leadership role on January 1, 2013, following the retirement of long-time Executive Director, Jack Ribas.

A rich pool of applicants responded to the job opening during a six-month search. The Board is confident that Shaye’s experience, knowledge, and integrity are a great match for the work, staff, and friends of the Boys & Girls Club.

Shaye’s passion to advocate for youth will advance our mission in our local communities and help spread the vision of all children reaching their full potential.

Shaye is a visionary leader who brings to the Boys & Girls Club deep experience in youth development. Shaye started with our Club as an intern in her youth. During her 14-year tenure, Shaye worked her way from intern to Teen Director, followed by Program Director.

When we opened a much-needed Boys & Girls Club unit in Milford in 2008, Shaye was selected to run that club as Unit Director. Shaye worked with her Board of Directors there to build strong corporate and community partnerships, and under her skilled leadership, the Milford club grew to a membership of more than 100 youth in the first year. In 2010 Shaye was invited to return to our Lavietes Club to serve as Unit Director.

A native of Shelton, Shaye holds an Associates Degree in Recreation & Leisure Studies from Mitchell College and a Bachelors Degree in the same from Southern Connecticut State University. Shaye is certified in more than 25 Boys & Girls Clubs of America Leadership Trainings and participated in BGCAs Advanced Leadership Practice. Shaye is a graduate of the 2012 Leadership Greater Valley program.

Shaye was a standout from the very beginning,” says Sue DeLeon, Board of Directors President. She has been an asset to the Club, and we are extremely fortunate to have her on board as our leader. With her enthusiasm, confidence, and commitment to serving our youth, I have no doubt she will succeed in her new role and positively impact both the lives of our children and the continued growth of our organization.

I am honored to serve the Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley as Executive Director,” says Shaye Roscoe. This organization truly believes in creating a safe and fun environment for the children in our community, and we have an exceptional staff who are dedicated and compassionate about our members. Our organization has been blessed with a diverse and knowledgeable Board of Directors who provide me with endless support. I am grateful to Jack Ribas for his outstanding leadership model and the success that he has provided our Club with for 34 years, and I look forward to carrying on this tradition. I truly love what I do — making a difference in the life of a child is an incredibly rewarding experience. I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to do so.”
