New Haven Man Arrested For Allegedly Stealing Vehicle At Gunpoint

SHELTON — Police on Friday accused a 21-year-old New Haven resident of first-degree robbery after allegedly stealing a vehicle he had expressed interest in buying.

According to a press release from Detective Richard Bango, a person listed the vehicle for sale through Facebook Marketplace.

Devon Brown contacted the seller and made arrangements to meet.

The complainant alleged when Brown arrived to view the car he displayed a firearm, then pushed him to the ground” and stole the vehicle along with the vehicle’s title, according to the prepared statement.

The seller filed a complaint with police on June 30.

Brown was identified through his Facebook profile, police said. 

Brown is charged with first-degree robbery and third-degree larceny. He’s being held on a $50,000 bond pending a court date scheduled for later today (Friday, Aug. 6).
