Newtown Tribute Ride Will Take Route Through Valley

A motorcycle ride fundraiser to benefit those affected by December’s Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting will begin in Shelton before following Route 34 through Derby, Seymour, and Oxford.

The fundraiser, the “Green Ribbon Ride,” will kick off at 8 a.m. May 5 at the corner of Howe Avenue and Cornell Street.

The event is sponsored by the five volunteer fire departments that serve Newtown.

Riders will proceed north on Howe Avenue before crossing the Derby-Shelton bridge, then go west on Route 34 through Derby, Seymour, Oxford, Monroe, and Newtown.

The ride will end at the Trumbull Westfield Mall.
