No Cash For Tickets, Metro-North Says

From Metro-North:

A top priority of Metro-North is keeping our customers and employees safe, and we are taking all measures possible to prevent the spread of COVID19. That’s why we are disinfecting our stations two times a day, sanitizing our trains daily and performing a complete cleaning of our trains every 72 hours.

However, also reducing hand-to-hand contact is one of the effective ways to stop the spread of COVID19.

Therefore as a precaution, starting Tuesday, March 17, Metro-North will no longer be accepting cash fare payments at its ticket counters or on trains. Metro-North will continue to accept credit card payments for tickets transactions.

We also urge customers to use MTA eTix, the fast and easy way to pay directly from your smartphone.

In addition, in line with the NY State guidelines so that customers and employees are not potentially exposed to the virus, on Wednesday, March 18, we are temporarily closing the following station ticket offices:

- Bronxville – Croton-Harmon – Mount Vernon East – New Rochelle – North White Plains – Port Chester – Rye – Tarrytown – White Plains

As a further precaution in reducing hand-to-hand transmission, Metro-North’s Lost and Found Office, which is located on the lower level of Grand Central Terminal, will be closed until further notice as of March 17. If you have left an item on the train or in one of our stations, please file your initial claim online at http://as0.mta.info/mnr/found/web_cust_select_ie.cfm.

We appreciate your patience while we deal with this unprecedented situation, and we hope you and your family are safe and healthy.
