No Injuries In Ansonia House Fire

photo:ethan fryAn Ansonia resident escaped from a house fire Tuesday night without injury.

I woke up and my drapes were on fire in my bedroom,” Scotland Street homeowner Deb Pascariello said outside her house Wednesday morning. I had felt heat, and within a matter of seconds, the room filled with smoke.”

I just ran out and called 911,” Pascariello said. They were here very quick.”

Fire Marshal Ralph Tingley said about 30 firefighters responded to the blaze, which did not spread farther than Pascariello’s bedroom.

They actually knocked it down really quick with a portable water can,” Tingley said.

The fire was reported about 11:30 p.m.

The first floor of the two-family home is still habitable, Tingley said, and the second floor should be soon — once repairs are made to a wall damaged by fire and water.

Tingley ruled the fire accidental in origin, but said a specific cause couldn’t be pinpointed because of the damage.

Pascariello said she was able to stay with a relative Tuesday night.

She thanked firefighters for the quick response.

They were very good,” she said.
