No one was injured Thursday when an elderly man crashed into a beam outside a shopping center.
The driver was thought to be 75 years old, police said.
“He was attempting to park his car at the Seybridge Pharmacy in the Seybridge Shopping Plaza off of New Haven Road,” Lt. Paul Satkowski said. “Upon doing so, he mistakenly hit the gas instead of the brake.”
The man’s vehicle jumped the curb and hit a building support post, Satkowski said.
The post was damaged but there was no structural damage to the building.
“There were no injuries and that was about the extent of it,” Satkowski said.
There were no tickets issued to the driver. Satkowski did not have the driver’s name.
