DERBY — There were no injuries reported after a house fire on Mount Pleasant Street Monday morning.

Derby emergency services received a report at about 5:45 a.m. saying a house at 171 Mount Pleasant St. had filled with smoke and that there was a fire in the basement.

First units on scene saw smoke billowing from a one-story, Cape-style home. A family with two dogs left the house before firefighters arrived, according to a Derby Fire Department post on Facebook.

The fire was contained to the basement.

The fire marshal is investigating the cause.

Shelton and Ansonia fire departments responded to the call along with Derby.
