SEYMOUR — Police released information on two motor vehicle crashes from May 6.

The first wreck happened about 7:45 a.m. A tractor-trailer was traveling on Hollbrook Road when the driver caused it to drift off the road and into a tree. The driver, who police said was not familiar with the area, was not injured.

A DMV inspector found no safety issues with the vehicle. The driver received a ticket.

Hollbrook Road was shut down for about four hours.

At 7:30 p.m. police received a report saying a car collided with a tree in the area of 170 Bungay Road. Responding units found a badly damaged Toyota Corolla with its 32-year-old driver trapped inside. Firefighters had to cut the man from the vehicle.

The driver was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver was ticketed for speeding and using his cell phone. Bungay Road between Old Town Road and Canfield Road was shut for about an hour while emergency crews dealt with the crash.

Seymour Ambulance and the Great Hill Hose Co. responded to both calls.
