Police said they’re working the case but not releasing any new information regarding last week’s drive-by killing on Hawthorne Avenue.
The Sept. 3 shooting took the life of 25-year-old Rodney “Rheem” Baldwin.
Baldwin was killed at the intersection of Hawthorne Avenue and Seventh Street.
Family and friends have set up a small memorial in the spot where he died. About 70 people have expressed their condolences to his family in an online memorial.
Derby police spokesman Lt. Sal Frosceno have a vehicle in their possession they think may have been involved in the shooting. Residents reported seeing a dark-colored sedan leaving the scene.
“We do have a vehicle. We’re still working it,” Frosceno said.
A crew from the state Police Major Crime Squad processed the vehicle, looking for evidence.
Police offered no other information on the case.
“Unfortunately I don’t have any fresh information to release. I know that everyone involved in the case is working it very hard and rapidly,” Frosceno said.
Baldwin, meanwhile, is scheduled to be buried at 10 a.m. Thursday (Sept. 10) at Park Cemetery in Bridgeport.
