No Terror, Just Books

Members of the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force were in Derby Wednesday, Nov. 9 to look at trash thrown out by a former Elizabeth Street resident.

The FBI was notified after employees from the city’s Department of Public Works found several books that “referred to Islamic terrorism” in the trash outside an apartment, according to a police department monthly report.

Turns out some of the books were actually co-authored by a former tenant in the apartment. The books dealt with “historical Middle Eastern terrorism issues,” according to police.

The FBI determined that neither the man nor his discarded books were suspicious.
