The following information was posted on The Naugatuck Valley Health District’s Facebook page Tuesday night.
Effective Monday March 16, 2020 at 8 p.m., all restaurants and bars that serve food in Connecticut are temporarily required to move to take-out, curbside pickup and/or delivery services only.
Bars that do not serve food will be required to temporarily close.
As such, the Naugatuck Valley Health District recommends the following to minimize the risk of COVID-19 transmission to you, your employees and customers:
• All customer self-service operations shall be temporarily suspended.
• Take-out orders should be placed over the phone. Whenever possible, take payment over the phone/electronically.
• All seats must be removed, chairs flipped over or seating area roped off.
• Provide take-out orders to the customer via curbside. Be mindful during delivery to a customer vehicle or residence to allow for at least a six-foot distance between individuals.
• If curbside pick-up is not feasible, a 6‑foot distance should be maintained between individuals with only minimal individuals inside the establishment at one time.
• Customer food orders shall maintain proper temperatures for safety. Hot foods at 135°F or above and cold foods at 41°F or below.
• Wash hands frequently with warm water and antibacterial soap for at least 20 seconds and dry with a paper towel.
• Perform routine cleaning and sanitizing of all objects and surfaces. A list of EPA approved disinfectants can be found at https://www.epa.gov/…/docume…/sars-cov-2-list_03-03 – 2020.pdf
• Employees must stay home when sick; if anyone is experiencing fever, cough or shortness of breath they should be directed home to contact their healthcare provider for guidance.
This is an evolving situation so this guidance may change. We will continue to post updates and information on our website nvhd.org, as well as our social media pages (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIN) .
If you are a restaurant owner and have any questions please, call the Naugatuck Valley Health District at 203 – 881-3255.
