NVHD Reports 24 More COVID-19 Cases Locally

The Naugatuck Valley Health District reported an additional 24 new positive COVID-19 tests within its jurisdiction Wednesday.

Seven new cases were reported in Shelton, seven new cases were reported in Naugatuck, six cases were reported in Ansonia, two in Derby, one in Beacon Falls and one in Seymour.

The NVHD doesn’t report on how many tests have been performed.

There have been 2,124 positive cases in Ansonia, Beacon Falls, Derby, Naugatuck, Seymour and Shelton since March. Oxford is in the Pomperaug Health District. The agency does not send Oxford’s data to The Valley Indy.

Ansonia Public Schools sent a letter to parents Oct. 28 explaining that an individual who was last in the district Oct. 26 has tested positive for COVID-19.

The district reported that several classrooms in ​“chort A” will need to quarantine for two weeks, along with a few staff members.

The quarantines are happening at Prendergast Elementary School, which is remaining open using a hybrid model.
