The Oxford Cultural Arts Commission is pleased to announce scheduled events that will be part of their Fourth Annual Gallery of Art Showcase Exhibit on May 24th through the 26th at the Oxford Town Hall on Route 67 in Oxford.
This wonderful exhibit features the art works of 26 artists, a full weekend of exciting events starting with a Gala opening reception.
Friday May 24th to meet the artists, awards of over a $1000.
Martin Ear will be playing during the Opening reception from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. His original music is a lush meditative and calming sound, that stays below a speaking level but can still be pleasantly absorbed while visitors enjoy the art.
The exhibit will also include a silent auction of original art and/or prints donated by local artists and framed prints of Caryl’s art, auctioned to benefit the Caryl Soucy memorial scholarship.
Saturday May 25th 10am to 4pm there will be demonstrations by area artists during the day in the Meeting room gallery, a Children’s theater Charlie Brown interactive program 1 to 3 pm at the Town Hall Gazebo by the Nine Mile Players where attending kids are invited to come dressed to represent their favorite Peanuts characters and join a parade with prizes and lots of fun.
At 1 pm an adult workshop for a fee of $10 per person attendees will learn “How an art show is juried” presented by Gallery Director Dorothy Peebles-Pelley this will include a gallery tour and the opportunity to actually jury the existing exhibit and award prizes to their choices.
Sunday May 26th 10am to 4pm there will be demonstrations by area artists during the day.
At 1 pm a children’s drawing workshop for a fee of $10 attendees will learn drawing as presented by KiKi Michalek, 2011 Gallery showcase award winning artist and current Artist in Residence at the Farmington Valley Arts Center in Avon CT.
At 1 to 4PM sound artist, Martin Ear will be be hosting an Open-Mic on Sunday, May 26, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm in the Gazebo at Oxford Town Hall.
In case of inclement weather, the event outdoor events will be held inside.
This fourth OCAC Gallery Showcase Exhibit is full weekend of family oriented fun events is free to the public.
Auction items will be on display throughout the weekend until the auction closes at 3:30 PM on Sunday the 26th.
