SEYMOUR — Local, state and federal officials held a press conference Monday to once again call on the owners of the Kinneytown Dam to fix it.
The dam, which is supposed to help generate electricity for its owner Hydroland, has a ‘fish bypass’ attached to it, a structure that is supposed to allow fish to get around the dam along the Naugatuck River.
But nothing about the dam works. It’s been broken for years.
The fact that migratory fish can’t get around it causes an ecological imbalance that impacts the health of the river and the Long Island Sound, officials have said.
