Once A Cop, Always A Cop

A retired Shelton police officer living in Florida rescued a 15-month-old baby from a car wreck caused by an alleged drunk driver.

No, there ain’t no such thing (as a hero),” retired cop Scotty Martin told an NBC affiliate in Fort Meyers, Florida. It’s just human nature.”

The Shelton connection was pointed out Wednesday morning on the Shelton Police Department’s Facebook page.

Shelton Police Chief Joel Hurliman on Wednesday called Martin’s act a nice piece of work by a retired Shelton detective.”

Hurliman said Martin retired in 1999 after 20 years of work as a detective. He said Martin began work at the department in the early 70s.

He was a credit to the department when he was here, and it’s a pretty heroic act by a retiree, so he’s still a credit to our department,” Hurliman said.
