One New, One Renewed Accreditation

Two local pre-schools run by TEAM Inc. recently received national accreditation – a long and tedious process that ensures the pre-schools are up to snuff with national standards.

The TEAM Early Education Center on Howard Avenue in Ansonia was re-accredited for five years, and the Seymour School Readiness program at Anna LoPresti School received its first accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

We’re proud to have earned the mark of quality from NAEYC, and to be recognized for our commitment to reaching the highest professional standards,” said David Morgan, TEAM vice president for early education, in a written statement. NAEYC accreditation assures families in our community that children enrolled in our program receive exceptional care and superior early learning experiences.”

NAEYC updated its criteria for accreditation in 2006. To become accredited under the new standards, TEAM had to review about 400 items listed under the criteria and make sure its programs were up to par. Members of NAEYC visited the sites to make sure the standards were being met. During the five years of accreditation, NAEYC may preform unannounced visits on the sites as well.
