The owner of the Brickhouse Restaurant at 90 Pershing Drive won his bid to add outdoor dining to his two-year old business.
Rashad “Richie” El-Sharnouby wanted to add 30 seats outside the restaurant in an effort to keep the place viable. He operates in a increasingly lonely locale, next to the former Valley Bowl.
The city’s Planning and Zoning Commission approved El-Sharnouby’s application Oct. 19 after he agreed to eliminate a few seats inside the restaurant. Not doing so would have triggered him to carve out more parking spaces outside the restaurant, as dictated by city zoning laws.
The commission’s vote on the Brickhouse application was unanimous.
