Overnight Car Break-Ins In Derby

Derby police sent a press release July 22 saying they are investigating a series of overnight car break-ins in the area of Ida Avenue, Sherwood Avenue, and Belleview Drive.

Residents are urged to lock their vehicles and keep all valuables out of plain view,” Lt. Justin Stanko, the department’s operations commander, said in the statement.

If anyone has any information, please contact the Derby Police Department at (203) 735‑7811.

All calls can remain confidential.

Earlier this month, a resident from the Derbyshire condos posted on the Valley Indy Facebook page, saying her car was broken into twice in two months.

The post started a thread in which similar thefts were reported near Griffin Hospital and on Franklin Street in Ansonia, according to the people who live in those neighborhoods.

Residents in Seymour said their cars are being broken into, too.
