Oxford Begins Superintendent Search

The Oxford Board of Education is beginning the search for the next Superintendent of Schools.

The Board has selected CABE Search Services, an educational executive recruitment firm, and Dr. Jacqueline Jacoby, senior search consultant for CABE, to facilitate and assist with this important undertaking. CABE Search Services has been integral to the successful completion of superintendent searches throughout Connecticut.

The first step in the Oxford process was to meet with the Board of Education and Superintendent Search Committee, made up of representatives from staff, parents, board of education members and the community. At this meeting there was discussion about the process, qualities of the next leader and the establishment of a timeline for conducting the search.

The next step is to establish the characteristics and qualities for the next superintendent.

The Oxford Board of Education asked the consultant to review and build on the feedback provided last November from school staff, community, parents, elected town officials and Board of Education members who shared their thinking about the attributes, skills and professional experiences they desired in the superintendent.

The new Board of Education and Search Committee further defined the key characteristics and leadership qualities desired in the next educational leader. Search Committee representatives spoke about Oxford as a community with unrealized potential and a school district on the rise.

Board Chairperson Paula Guillet added, Our Board is committed to selecting a positive individual who is a thoughtful creative leader, collaborative and has a strong work ethic, is resourceful and fiscally responsible”.

The schools and community will be kept informed about the search process on the school website at www.oxfordpublicschools.org. Recruitment has already begun with postings on both Connecticut and national websites and a brochure will be developed from information gathered and distributed early in March as another recruitment strategy.

It is anticipated that interviews will be held in April and a finalist selected in time for a comfortable transition with the Interim Superintendent, Dr. John Reed.
