Oxford Crash Sends Two To The Hospital

A two-car crash sent two people to the hospital Tuesday.

Police are still investigating the crash, so complete details — including the names of the people involved — were not available Tuesday afternoon.

According to Oxford Fire Department Chief Scott J. Pelletier, the crash happened at about 12:15 p.m. on Route 188 near the intersection with Moose Hill Road.

A large van collided with a small sedan being driven by a woman, Pelletier said.

The woman was trapped in her vehicle and had to be freed using the jaws of life, Pelletier said.

Extrication took about five minutes and she was transported to a local hospital,” the chief said.

Emergency dispatches from the scene indicated the woman may have suffered a head injury.

She sustained some serious injuries,” Pelletier said.

The driver of the van complained of neck and back pain and was also taken to the hospital by members of the Oxford Ambulance Association.

This story will be updated when police in Oxford issue a report.
