The Oxford Democratic Town Committee (ODTC) met recently at a special meeting to elect delegates to federal and state conventions to be held in May.
Five delegates were elected to attend the US Senate nominating convention to be held on May 12, 2012 at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain.
The Democratic candidates running for the US Senate are US Congressman Chris Murphy, Susan Bysiewicz (former Secretary of State), State Rep William Tong, Lee Whitnum and Matthew Oakes. This seat is currently held by retiring Senator Joe Lieberman.
The ODTC has endorsed Chris Murphy for the US Senate seat. Oxford delegates selected to attend the convention are Tom Coble, Bernard McNair, Hamilton Brosious, Leslie Alexander and Ann Krane.
Also elected were five delegates to the US House of Representatives nominating convention for the 4th District which includes Oxford. This seat is currently held by incumbent Congressman Jim Himes who is running unopposed for reelection. This convention will be held on May 14, 2012 in Bridgeport at a location yet to be announced. The delegates selected to this convention are Howard Deutsch, Carol Georgette, Richard Kreitner, Tomas Reyes and Maura Satkowski.
Delegates to the 32nd State Senate District Convention are Tom Coble, Tomas Reyes, Linda McKane, Ann Krane and Bernard McNair. This convention will be held on May 21, 2012 in the Southbury Town Hall at 7 p.m. Candidate has yet to be announced.
Delegates to the 131st State House District Convention are Paula Guillet, Dave McKane, Lenny Alexander, Kenn Maher and Ann Krane. This convention will be held on May 22, 2012 in the Oxford Town Hall at 7:30 p.m. Candidate has yet to be announced.
